Richter brought up an incident he heard about when a town’s code enforcement officer was in an accident with his private truck. It was determined that it was the officer’s fault, but his truck was under-insured. The municipality he was serving at the time had to pay a large sum. Richter felt this was the best way of “making sure we don’t cut that check sometime” by having the municipality

Richter was hoping this would be an area of shared services with the Village of Waverly. He stated that Chemung would purchase and insure the

He noted that he would “love to have (Waverly) as a partner”. Richter also mentioned that the Town of Ashland was willing to be in the deal and that the Town of Chemung would buy the truck regardless of what Waverly said.
Mayor Kyle McDuffee stated that the project was in the preliminary stages and he wanted to “make sure it was affordable” first and foremost and to look at all the issues surrounding the
Truck cover china. He did say it “sounds like a great idea” and that Richter is “very good at what he is doing” but that it’s going to come down to a “bottom line figure.”
Code Enforcement Officer Larry Lanternman, who currently uses his private
Truck cover china on the job, is for the truck, stating that his vehicle has put a lot of miles on since he bought it and that it wasn’t just gas but tires and wear and tear that costs him.
